Toy Insider's Top 20

Plus, 2 of OC Family's own picks

The Toy Insider (toyinsider.com) commissioned a panel of toy experts (what a job, huh?) to identify this season’s hottest gifts for kids ages O to 9. Here is their list of the hottest 20 toys for 2011.

 • AGES 0 TO 18 months

1. Elefun Busy Ball Popper, 9 months +
Drop the five colorful balls into the Elefun character’s ears, and they could pop out of his trunk or roll into his belly. The elephant’s trunk rotates 360 degrees, so Mom can control the action. It plays 10 songs. PLAYSKOOL; $29.99; playskool.com

2. Let’s Rock Elmo, 18 months +
Elmo takes the stage singing and making music, and preschoolers can, too! Elmo comes with his very own microphone, tambourine and drum set, and he magically recognizes which one you give him. Kids can play along! HASBRO; $69.99; hasbro.com

3. Little People Zoo Talkers Animal Sounds Zoo, 18 Months +
This interactive play set, featuring animal-recognition technology, brings critters to life! Place any animal on a peg, and it responds with that animal’s name and corresponding sound. There are fun activities on both sides of the play set! FISHER-PRICE; $39.99; fisher-price.‌com

4. Pocoyo Swiggletraks, 18 months +
The flexible racetrack gives preschoolers a creative way to play by allowing them to create their own course. A moving bridge adds to the excitement. Based on the Pocoyo TV series, it includes a motorized vehicle with music and a ball accessory. $26.99; bandai.com
